Carrie Thornton, PsyD

Medical School:

Widener University

Dr. Thornton is a native of Virginia Beach, and returns after spending six years in Philadelphia.

During her time in Philadelphia, she earned a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Widener University. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship focused on treating anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.

During her graduate career, she gained experience in working with forensic populations, veterans, and students, which equipped her with a variety of clinical skills.

She was drawn to the area of psychological assessment after feeling a desire to provide a more comprehensive framework for understanding the challenges faced by children from underrepresented populations.

Dr. Thornton’s professional philosophy is to work hard to understand each individual client and convey and respond to all aspects of their unique experiences with integrity.

During her leisure time, Dr. Thornton is an avid traveler, soccer player, and amateur chef. She is actively involved in her local church. She also enjoys taking her dogs on outings, trying out new local foodie spots, and living an active lifestyle, preferably outdoors.
