Certified Medical Coder

We are looking to hire an experienced certified Medical Coder to be a part of a pediatric multispecialty company that continues to grow in the healthcare field. Position responsibilities:

  • Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes
  • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with ICD guidelines
  • Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
  • Communicate with other staff regarding documentation
  • Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
  • Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
  • Ensure that all codes are current and active
  • Active certification as a professional coder, CPC or equivalent
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures
  • Critical care and Intensive care coding a plus

Requirements:

  • Experience in neonatology billing or coding a plus
  • Experience in Neurology, Hematology (to include infusion coding) a plus
  • Experience with EMR is strongly preferred

Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)- Full Time

Children’s Specialty Group, LLC (CSG) division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is recruiting full-time CRNAs for surgical services provided at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia.  You will join a large team of 21 Anesthesiologists and 6 CRNAs. Our division performs over 14,000 anesthetics per year in all surgical disciplines, including general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, GI, dental, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and cardiovascular surgery.  Candidates would be conducting cases in an anesthesia team model in all disciplines except for cardiovascular surgery. The successful candidate will have a current Virginia license and CRNA certification. Nurse Practitioner- Developmental Pediatrics

Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a full time Nurse Practitioner to work in the Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. You will join our interdisciplinary team of developmental pediatrician, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, educational consultants, and other support staff. In addition to an interdisciplinary NICU follow up clinic and a new autism spectrum disorder clinic, our division coordinates services across Hampton Roads as one of five regional Child Development Centers supported by the Virginia Department of Health.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the physician, utilize evidence-based protocols to develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Appropriately manage specific developmental and behavioral disorders including, but not limited to, ADHD, Autism, Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities and medically complex children with developmental delays in collaboration with supervising physician.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of health screening program for infants, children and adolescents for identification of at risk developmental behavioral problems.

Physician- Chief, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine

The Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) is the clinical, operational and academic leader of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Specialty Group (CSG), Children’s Hospital of The King’s

The Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is employed by CSG and will be a board certified, licensed physician who will lead the pediatric emergency department physicians. The Division Chief will participate with CSG and hospital leadership in budgetary, staffing, patient care, professional staff development, performance evaluations and patient/family issues. The Division Chief will also oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division; direct pediatric emergency care for the pediatric ED at CHKD; lead recruiting efforts for the Division; and ensure career mentoring for all faculty in the Division.

The Division Chief leads collaborative efforts within CSG and CHKD to ensure that the highest quality patient care is provided in a professional, cost-effective, culturally competent manner. The Division Chief oversees faculty scholarly activity that includes provision of education and mentorship to trainees; research and innovation; community outreach and advocacy; and regional and national academic collaboration and thought leadership. The Division Chief fosters a collegial culture amongst the Divisional faculty and supports faculty mentorship and career development.

The Division Chief is an advocate for and a representative of the Divisional faculty in CSG, Departmental and Hospital leadership activities. In addition, the Division Chief will be a dyad partner with nursing leadership to help establish standard operating protocols which ensures outstanding care for all patients.

Physician- Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist

Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology

Call for Applications

The Division of Psychiatry & Psychology at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) has one opening for a postdoctoral fellow to start August 2021. This is a one-year, full-time fellowship offering the opportunity to develop the clinical skills necessary to provide care for diverse pediatric populations and to obtain a position in a pediatric healthcare setting or university-based training program. CHKD’s psychology postdoctoral fellowship involves year-long core experiences with consult-liaison and outpatient services. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to work with a variety of medical populations, including inpatient pediatric rehabilitation, pain and palliative care, gastroenterology, neurology, hematology/oncology, intensive care, and trauma. The fellow will be responsible for working with interdisciplinary teams and the patients referred to each of these service areas. In addition, fellows may supervise trainees and provide educational opportunities to other professionals in the healthcare system. An optional elective experience (4-8 hours/week) within a specialty area to cultivate a niche skillset, is also available.

Applicants must have: (a) completed their doctoral training in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program prior to the start date; (b) completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship; and (c) previous clinical experience in child clinical or pediatric psychology settings. Psychologist (Consultation- Liaison) - Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Join the Psychiatry and Psychology division of Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia. CHKD is lighting the way to a brighter future for out children by transforming the way mental health care is delivered to children and teens. As part of CHKD’s commitment to address a critical mental health crisis among youth, the health system is building a $224milllion, 60-bed mental health hospital, which includes a partial hospitalization program and robust outpatient services. 

Children’s Specialty Group and CHKD are seeking full-time inpatient Consultation-Liaison psychologists committed to delivering high-quality care to join our growing team. The psychologist (PhD or PsyD) will work closely with a variety of inpatient services including pediatric intensive care, hematology/oncology, pain/palliative care, gastroenterology, trauma, surgery, rehabilitation, and general hospital medicine. Assessment and interventions will focus on behavioral planning and support during medical inpatient admissions, adjustment to diagnosis, pain, and stress management, adherence to medical regimens, feeding and eating, and extended hospitalizations. Involvement with policy, clinical pathway, and program development for children admitted with co-occurring mental health needs is also anticipated.  The CL psychologist will participate in care for children admitted to the integrated care ‘med-psych’ unit in addition to the other medical units in the hospital. Faculty appointments at Eastern Virginia Medical School are available for qualified individuals, and there are multiple teaching opportunities across disciplines.

Experience, Education and Training Minimum:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, either PsyD or PhD from an APA/CPA accredited program, as well as completion of an APA/CPA accredited internship.

Psychologist- Division of Developmental Pediatrics

Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a full time doctoral-level psychologist to work in the Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to join our interdisciplinary team of developmental pediatricians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, educational consultants, and other support staff.

The focus of this position is to conduct assessments with children and adolescents regarding concerns for developmental disabilities, and there are opportunities to provide therapy services as well. Specifically, the clinician would administer a range of psychological tests to children and adolescents, and score and interpret test data. The psychologist would then present recommendations for treatment and links children to education and therapeutic services during the feedback session. Test administration is based on an understanding of age, culture, and developmental level. The psychologist documents patient care in the electronic medical record according to regulatory agency guidelines. Additional job duties may include supervision and training of non-licensed staff and collaborative work with pediatricians, therapy providers, and community organizations.

The candidate must possess a doctorate degree in clinical or school psychology with a Virginia state license, or be license eligible in Virginia. Post-doctoral education must include training and experience in conducting developmental evaluations. Preferred qualifications include: 2 years post licensure experience, one year of pediatric experience with children under the age of 6, recent experience in a pediatric setting, and competency with tests such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) and cognitive measures including Wechsler assessments and Differential Ability Scales.
