Licensed Mental Health Clinical Lead (VMAP)

The Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP) is a pediatric focused training, consultation, and referral program designed to increase capacity for Pediatric Primary Care Providers (PCPs) to treat and respond to common pediatric mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). VMAP consists of five regional hubs that provide localized mental health consultations for PCPs. Each regional hub consists of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (CAP), a VMAP Hub Clinical Lead and a care navigator.

The VMAP Hub Clinical Lead will:

  • Oversee, coordinate, and manage their respective regional hub
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for incoming calls to the VMAP line and conduct direct regional outreach to PCPs
  • Receive and screen incoming calls from PCPs
  • Provide case conceptualization, diagnostic support, and work in collaboration with regional VMAP CAPs on requested consultations
  • Coordinate their regional hub consultation schedule and attend regional meetings.
  • Supervise the regional care navigator
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to incoming consult requests from the VMAP central call center during normal business hours and triage requests to additional hub staff as appropriate (CAP and/or care navigator).
  • Provides clinical advice via consultation to individual PCPs related to patient care for cases, in line with practice guidelines and best practices in pediatric psychology, including:
    • Providing consults directly to PCPs.
    • Providing case-specific recommendations regarding behavioral health interventions including parent coaching, parent support and treatment/practice recommendations for PCPs.
    • Consulting with PCPs on current treatment plans to determine best course of action and providing alternative recommendations when needed.
    • Providing ongoing support for specific cases with the goal of working with PCPs (and hub team members) to develop transition plans to long-term care.
  • Provides time-limited behavioral health support directly to PCP patients upon request/recommendation via telehealth. Reasons for direct support could include, but are not limited to:
    • Providing short term bridge treatment until patient receives long-term behavioral health services.
    • Conducting brief behavioral health evaluations to determine accurate diagnoses and/or clarify diagnostic uncertainties.
    • Providing direct family support to facilitate linkage with care navigation services.     
  • If additional care is needed outside of the primary care setting, works in conjunction with regional hub care navigator to refer patients to the appropriate external behavioral health resources.
  • Provides oversight, coordination and management of regional hub operations.
  • Provides day to day operational supervision of regional hub’s care navigators.
  • Conducts regular outreach to primary care provider offices within respective VMAP region.
  • Assists with VMAP educational offerings, including the recruitment of regional staff/faculty and marketing VMAP educational opportunities to regional PCPs.
  • Works in conjunction with VMAP Medical Director and Medical Society of Virginia Foundation (MSVF) to integrate appropriate clinical and administrative functions into hub activities.
  • Assists MSVF and appropriate VMAP team members to collect and maintain all required data to ensure evaluation and reporting requirements are met.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy policies and hospital/health center regulations.
  • Completes all other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Administrator.

License and/or Certifications:

  • Current Virginia license in one of the following: Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Professional Counseling (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Clinical Psychologist (LCP).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in a related field. Or Psy.D/PhD.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical work experience with children and adolescents.
  • Must have a specialization in child and adolescent behavioral health as documented by education and previous work experience.
  • Supervision and/or consultation experience required.
  • Experience working with primary care providers required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Increased Security Clearance may be Required: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.

Certified Medical Coder

Position responsibilities:

  • Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes
  • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with ICD guidelines
  • Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
  • Communicate with other staff regarding documentation
  • Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
  • Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
  • Ensure that all codes are current and active
  • Active certification as a professional coder, CPC or equivalent
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures
  • Critical care and Intensive care coding a plus

Genetic Counselor

Responsibilities:

  • Genetic counselor will establish genetic counseling agenda with patients and their family
  • Assist in psychosocial genetic counseling regarding genetic hereditary conditions Coordinate, administer, and deliver genetic counseling to patients and families at risk for genetic or hereditary disorders or inborn errors of metabolism. Assess recurrence risks, and recommend and order genetic testing based on analysis of risks, benefits, and costs.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding patient care and management.

Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)- Full Time

Children’s Specialty Group, LLC (CSG) division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is recruiting full-time CRNAs for surgical services provided at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia.  You will join a large team of 21 Anesthesiologists and 6 CRNAs. Our division performs over 14,000 anesthetics per year in all surgical disciplines, including general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, GI, dental, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery and cardiovascular surgery.  Candidates would be conducting cases in an anesthesia team model in all disciplines except for cardiovascular surgery. The successful candidate will have a current Virginia license and CRNA certification. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required.

Physician- Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist

The focus of this position is to conduct assessments with children and adolescents regarding concerns for developmental disabilities, and there are opportunities to provide therapy services as well. Specifically, the clinician would administer a range of psychological tests to children and adolescents, and score and interpret test data. The psychologist would then present recommendations for treatment and links children to education and therapeutic services during the feedback session. Test administration is based on an understanding of age, culture, and developmental level. The psychologist documents patient care in the electronic medical record according to regulatory agency guidelines. Additional job duties may include supervision and training of non-licensed staff and collaborative work with pediatricians, therapy providers, and community organizations.

The candidate must possess a doctorate degree in clinical or school psychology with a Virginia state license, or be license eligible in Virginia. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Development and Evaluation
  • Utilizing evidence-based practices, develop therapeutic programming appropriate for partial-hospitalization setting to meet the various mental and behavioral health needs of youth and their families. Support future enhancements to programming to include specialized treatment for youth with complex presentations.
  • Oversee and participate in implementation of evidence-based practices and procedures, to include milieu, group, individual, and family therapy.
  • Monitor implementation to ensure fidelity and feasibility of service delivery.
  • Research and obtain information on best and current practices from other programs to improve this program’s service delivery and ensure consistency across levels of care (i.e., inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient).
