Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Juvenile Detention Center
Children’s Specialty Group has an opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse to work in the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center. The position will involve intake screening, proving appropriate therapies, medications, and immunizations to residents. The nurse will also provide care coordination under the direction of the nurse manager and medical director for health services referred into the community. The hours for this position are 2:00 pm-10:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The successful candidate will be licensed as a LPN in the state of Virginia.

Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)- Full Time
Children’s Specialty Group, LLC (CSG) division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is recruiting full-time CRNAs for surgical services provided at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia.  You will join a large team of 21 Anesthesiologists and 6 CRNAs. Nurse Practitioner- Pediatric Emergency Department

Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) is a physician-owned multi specialty medical group practice comprised of over 200 pediatric specialists whose mission is to provide high quality healthcare to children and adolescents, train future clinicians, and conduct research to improve children’s health. This position is within the CSG Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. CHKD’s emergency department (30 beds) cares for over 50,000 patients each year and is growing rapidly.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: In this newly created position, Advanced Practice providers will provide emergency care in the main treatment area of the emergency department at night (11pm – 7am) alongside pediatric emergency medicine physicians. Providers will be involved in caring for a wide spectrum of injury and illness. It is an excellent opportunity to enhance your pediatric acute care skills with access to didactics and mentored training. 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING MINIMUM: Current Virginia state license as a Registered Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Family Nurse Practitioner holding a valid Compact State license. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant- Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Join the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.  Children’s Specialty Group, PLLC (CSG) is seeking a full-time nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our dynamic team.  

The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is a 206-bed free-standing children’s hospital, level 1 pediatric trauma center, and regional tertiary care referral center with the only pediatric inpatient rehabilitation unit in the state that provides comprehensive subspecialty services to children from Williamsburg to Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine consists of 7 academic pediatric hospitalists and 1 nurse practitioner who cover the general pediatric inpatient wards and acute inpatient rehabilitation service. Our division provides care in a family-centered model for almost 50% of all children admitted to CHKD, plays an integral role in medical education for the Eastern Virginia Medical School and is involved in pediatric-related quality improvement and research both locally and nationally.

We are looking for a committed licensed nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) to join our division in providing care on the general pediatric inpatient wards, where responsibilities would include the provision of high-quality care to patients on the medical-surgical wards under the direction of our pediatric hospitalists, collaboration with our multidisciplinary team, serving as a thread of continuity for children with medical complexity, and participating in education, administration, and quality improvement efforts.

Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year of pediatric experience as a NP or PA, and

  • For PA applicants: completion of accredited PA program, licensure by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a PA, and NCCPA certification.

Our division also supports an interdisciplinary NICU follow up clinic, and coordinates services across Hampton Roads as one of five regional Child Development Centers supported by the Virginia Department of Health.

Psychologist- Division of Developmental Pediatrics
Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a full time doctoral-level psychologist to work in the Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to join our interdisciplinary team of developmental pediatricians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, educational consultants, and other support staff.

The focus of this position is to conduct assessments with children and adolescents regarding concerns for developmental disabilities, and there are opportunities to provide therapy services as well. Specifically, the clinician would administer a range of psychological tests to children and adolescents, and score and interpret test data. The psychologist would then present recommendations for treatment and links children to education and therapeutic services during the feedback session. Test administration is based on an understanding of age, culture, and developmental level. The psychologist documents patient care in the electronic medical record according to regulatory agency guidelines. Additional job duties may include supervision and training of non-licensed staff and collaborative work with pediatricians, therapy providers, and community organizations.

The candidate must possess a doctorate degree in clinical or school psychology with a Virginia state license, or be license eligible in Virginia. Post-doctoral education must include training and experience in conducting developmental evaluations. Preferred qualifications include: 2 years post licensure experience, one year of pediatric experience with children under the age of 6, recent experience in a pediatric setting, and competency with tests such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) and cognitive measures including Wechsler assessments and Differential Ability Scales.

Psychologist- Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) along with Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a full-time outpatient clinical psychologist to join our growing team. CSG and CHKD’s vision for the future of Psychiatry and Psychology practices involves the development of a psychiatric inpatient hospital, med-psych inpatient unit, partial hospitalization program, and an intensive outpatient program. The psychologist (PhD or PsyD) will provide evidenced-based assessment and treatment to children and families as well as possess the leadership teaching skills required to train hospital staff and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative mental health programming. In addition, this role requires provision of psycho-education to families and consultation with school personnel and other medical and mental health professionals to facilitate integrated care.

Experience, Education and Training Minimum:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, either PsyD or PhD from an APA/CPA accredited program, as well as completion of an APA/CPA accredited internship.
  • Experience conducting psychological evaluations and psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to mental health providers
  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Virginia Board of Psychology.
  • Certification in any of the below evidenced-based modalities preferred, advanced training in other modalities also considered: Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology

The Division of Psychiatry & Psychology at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) has one opening for a postdoctoral fellow to start August 2021. This is a one-year, full-time fellowship offering the opportunity to develop the clinical skills necessary to provide care for diverse pediatric populations and to obtain a position in a pediatric healthcare setting or university-based training program. CHKD’s psychology postdoctoral fellowship involves year-long core experiences with consult-liaison and outpatient services. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to work with a variety of medical populations, including inpatient pediatric rehabilitation, pain and palliative care, gastroenterology, neurology, hematology/oncology, intensive care, and trauma. The fellow will be responsible for working with interdisciplinary teams and the patients referred to each of these service areas. In addition, fellows may supervise trainees and provide educational opportunities to other professionals in the healthcare system. An optional elective experience (4-8 hours/week) within a specialty area to cultivate a niche skillset, is also available.

Applicants must have: (a) completed their doctoral training in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program prior to the start date; (b) completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship; and (c) previous clinical experience in child clinical or pediatric psychology settings.
